While Jelly Roll May Be Ready To Replace Katy Perry, ‘American Idol’ Appears To Have 3 Other Names in Mind

While fans always share their excitement about a new season of American Idol, the upcoming season is a special occasion given the departure of Katy Perry. For years, Perry, alongside Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, sifted through some of the country’s best singers to find the next American Idol. But last season, the show celebrated the judge for her contributions. And since leaving, many have wondered who will take their spot. With singers like Jelly Roll discussing the possibility of joining the iconic series, Bryan offers some names that might be on the shortlist.

Appearing on Audacy’s K-FROG, Jelly Roll offered his thoughts on the possibility of American Idol reaching out to him. When asked if he would take the job, the singer insisted, “Consider? I’ve accepted the job and they haven’t offered it.”

Having appeared on the show before, Jelly Roll gained high praise from Perry herself. She said, “I was convinced at anything he said. He could run for president. He could be my pastor. I might go back to church for him. He could sell me anything. So, to have any of these guys plus Jelly on the show would be amazing.” Giving some of the qualities she would look for in a judge, Perry added, “I want a truth-teller, that’s what I want. I want someone who’s not afraid to tell the truth in a graceful way. So just someone who has a strong sense of self that listens to their intuition.”

Luke Bryan Offers Up Three Names For ‘American Idol’ Replacement

Although just rumors for now, Bryan offered fans a look behind the scenes and how the producers are handling the lineup change. “It’s been interesting… We currently haven’t heard what the story is on who’s coming back, and if Lionel and I are coming back. I think Disney is just trying to figure out what they want to do and we’re just kind of sitting back and waiting until they decide.”

As for some of the names he might have heard throughout the American Idol halls, Bryan revealed to Billboard, “I think P!nk has been in the talks, Miley Cyrus has been in the talks, Meghan Trainor has been in the talks.”

With big names on the table, it appears that fans might have to wait until the season premiere to find out who will take over for Perry.
