ROCK COUNTY, Wis. -- Rock County Board Chair Kevin Leavy announced Friday he is seeking persons interested in serving on the Rock County Land Conservation Committee, whether they be a member of the Board or a citizen.

The Board said the committee is authorized with responsibilities related to natural resource management, such as soil and water conservation programs, erosion control, sedimentation and nonpoint source water pollution, and flood prevention. The committee will have eight members.

Leavy said the Board is seeking a citizen member that is actively engaged in any of the following for the purpose of producing income or livelihood: crop or forage production, keeping livestock, beekeeping, nursery, sod, Christmas tree production, floriculture, aquaculture, fur farming, or forest management.

The Land Conservation Committee meets monthly, on the first Wednesday of the month, at 7:15 p.m. The Board said Rock County residents that meet the requirements are encouraged to submit their interest to serve on the committee through the county's online portal , by 8:00 a.m. on July 26.
