McDonald’s is celebrating National French Fry Day today by handing out fries free of charge!

The fast food giant announced in a press release via People that customers can head to any location and grab a side of fries in any size—no purchase necessary—today (July 13). To enjoy the deal, you’ll need to download the McDonald’s mobile app to order the tasty treat.

The actual “holiday” fell on July 12 and honors what has become America’s second most popular food after hamburgers, according to a recent YouGov poll . Naturally, several restaurants offered free or discounted fries to mark the day, including McDonald’s, which gave free medium fries with a 1$ minimum purchase on the app.

But McDonald’s isn’t stopping there. The restaurant is celebrating the mighty French fry once a week throughout 2024. During a special named Free Fries Friday , customers can grab a medium order on the house with a $1 or more purchase via the app.
