The snap, which Ireland, 28, captioned with a simple black heart emoji, has gotten more than 15,000 likes, including one from actress Melanie Griffith. Baldwin shares Ireland with ex Kim Basinger.
Baldwin, 66, and his wife, Hilaria, 40, wept and embraced in the courtroom after a New Mexico judge dropped the involuntary manslaughter charges against him Friday in the fatal 2021 “Rust” shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
“Elated for your dad and family – bless you all Ireland – justice has rightly been served as he’s been in living hell – watching his face as the Judge spoke made me cry with him XO 🙏♥️ Love to you xo,” Brenda M. Currie wrote in response to Ireland’s post.
“So happy this weight is off your family. Much love to you all,” CGeerman commented.
Soap opera star Eric Braeden, 83, who has long been a fixture of CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” and who had followed the trial from the start and supported Baldwin, wrote on X:
“Am very happy for ALEC BALDWIN! Anyone who has ever been on a set where guns are used, knows damn well that the armorer ( prop person) shows the actor an empty gun, Devoid of ANY BULLETS!! Period!! And the second in command responsible is the AD!”
NYU professor and podcaster Scott Galloway wrote on Threads that the prosecution of Baldwin was “a weak/weird attempt to put the patriarchy on trial—rich, old, white guy. Case should never have been brought.”
“What a twist of events,” former CNN anchor Don Lemon opined on X . ” A lesson for everyone judging @AlecBaldwin . Who wouldn’t be emotional and cry? Im happy for them.”
“Our criminal justice system is f—–g messed up when it goes after Alec Baldwin for an obvious accident yet gives a monster like Jeffrey Epstein a big time pass for molesting countless children.”
Someone with the X handle @TrivWorks may have had the best line.
