JUST IN: Melania Trump Not Speaking at RNC Next Week, Along With Other Conspicuously Absent Trump

Former First Lady Melania Trump is not expected to speak at the Republican National Conventionnext week as Donald Trump takes the party’s official nomination for president.

The Trump campaign and the RNC released on Saturday the names of next week’s speakers, and highlighted Trump family members first in the statement.

Along with Melania, his daughter Ivanka Trump is also conspicuously missing from that list and not scheduled to appear on stage.

Instead are listed Donald Trump Jr , Eric Trump , RNC co-chair Lara Trump , and future daughter-in-law Kimberly Guilfoyle .

The former first lady not speaking breaks with tradition for the convention. Like other nominee’s spouses. Melania Trump did speak at his last two nominations.

Following Trump’s decision to run again for the Oval Office, Melania Trump has not been as active on the campaign trail compared to prior years. She has stepped away from attending rallies for her husband and was not seen by his side as he attended his criminal trial in Manhattan for falsifying business records.

During the 2016 election, Melania’s speech created some controversy due to allegations that a portion of her speech plagiarized former First Lady Michelle Obama .

The list also confirmed earlier reporting by Maggie Haberman that Tucker Carlson will be speaking at the convention. Sources tell Haberman and Ben Smith that he will have a primetime spot on the night Trump is nominated .
