Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's Wrexham have made another high-profile acquisition, signing Charlton captain George Dobson to the Racecourse Ground - and the Hollywood duo have more signings up their sleeve.

The 26-year-old midfielder seemed poised to move to Fehervar after signing a pre-contract agreement with the Hungarian club. However, a change of heart led Dobson to stay put before joining the Red Dragons . Now, manager Phil Parkinson has confirmed talks are ongoing with more players.

Reynolds and McElhenney have made a huge impact at the club, not least in the transfer market. The club has attracted some impressive signings and will hope that continues ahead of a first season back in League One, English soccer's third tier.

"That's three so far and we are just assessing other options," said Parkinson, with goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo and centre-back Lewis Brunt have already joined the club alongside Dobson. "We are in talks with a number of players. Some may happen and some may not.

"I don't want to put a number on how many more signings. We are just looking at the players in training and piecing the squad together. It's like a jigsaw and you want to get that right; make sure we have got that strength in depth in all areas with the quality we are going to need in a very competitive division."

Parkinson is also delighted with the addition of Dobson after he looked set to head elsewhere. He will now be ready to feature in their pre-season tour of America in the coming weeks.

"I had George briefly at Sunderland. Obviously, he was younger then but I have monitored his progress since then," said Parkinson "I was aware he'd signed for a Hungarian team and we foundd out his contract had been cancelled because of personal reasons so we moved quickly.

"We had a chat with him and it was great to get him up here. We've had him in training this week ready for the America tour.

"George is a great signing for us. He is a good age and has got his best years ahead of him. He has played a lot of football at this level and he is a good player. He is a good character and he will offer us a lot on and off the pitch."

Dobson added: "I'm genuinely delighted. It's the club in the EFL that everyone wants to come to and when I got the opportunity to join it was exciting.

"When I spoke to the gaffer, and he showed his interest it felt like an opportunity I couldn't turn down. I can't wait to meet all the supporters and hopefully carry on the success of the club and have an enjoyable season."
