MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources announced Tuesday it published its "2023 Annual Drinking Water Report," and the results look good for Wisconsin.

The DNR said the report showed more than 99% of the public water systems in Wisconsin met all water quality standards for contaminants. The results highlight statewide efforts to help public water systems provide a safe and sustainable supply of drinking water.

The DNR said the impressive scorecard was possible because of joint efforts between public water system owners and operators, the DNR, and many other partners. Additional funding from the federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Gov. Tony Evers, who invested $10 million in American Rescue Plan funding to expand on Wisconsin's Well Compensation Grant Program, also contributed to the success.

The DNR said most of the extra funding went toward lead service line replacement and addressing emerging contaminants. The full 2023 Annual Drinking Water Report can be found on the DNR's website .
