    Richard Simmons 'haunting' last post hours before death as he pleads 'don't rain on my parade'

    Richard Simmons has died aged 76 , with the fitness guru posting just hours before his tragic passing .

    Police reportedly responded to a call from his housekeeper before 10 a.m. PST on Saturday and it's reported he was pronounced dead at the scene with no foul play expected at this time. His cause of death has not yet been revealed, but police currently believe it was natural causes.

    A representative for Richard confirmed his death to ABC News . The Mirror contacted the Los Angeles Police Department for comment.

    Just hours earlier Richard shared a post on Twitter/X with his followers. He wrote: "Hello gorgeous! Please don't rain on my parade." Fans quickly took to the post to question the tragic news and to share there devastation.

    One user wrote: "Yikes! 5 hrs. ago posting messages & gone just like that. You seriously never know," while another penned: "Umm, this is haunting if this post was shortly before you passed. Rest in peace :("

    Others shared messages of rest in peace, while some also penned: "We love you, Richard! Always."

    The news comes just a day after Richard celebrated turning 76. He had taken to the social media channel to thank well-wishers on the day, saying: "Thank you…I never got so many messages about my birthday in my life! I am sitting here writing emails. Have a most beautiful rest of your Friday. Love, Richard."

    He had previously penned a long thread explaining the traditions of birthdays and his family's special days. He began: "The celebration of Birthdays. Birthday cakes and candles were created by the Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans. Later on someone said let’s bring gifts to the birthday person…that was a good idea. 1/17 "

    He went on to explain his childhood memories of birthdays before sharing a sweet black and white image from his first birthday. In his final post of the birthday thread, he wrote: "I don’t know when your birthday is but I wish you a happy and healthy birthday!"

    Earlier this year, Richard revealed he had been diagnosed with skin cancer. He also revealed he was planning to reignite his career . In May, he told Page Six : "I just got off the phone with a friend of mine who is an attorney and manages famous artists in music," Simmons — who’s been something of a recluse for the last decade — posted on Facebook last week. "She wants to do an interactive Broadway show about my life."
