Texas country icon Mark Chesnutt knows how to take a traditional-sounding country tune and turn it into something modern, without deviating too far into pop territory. He’s had a few hits through the years, including songs like his Aerosmith cover “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” and “She Was”. But what about his lesser-known songs that deserve to be bigger hits? Let’s take a look at a few Mark Chesnutt deep cuts that every fan should know by heart!

    1. “I’m A Saint”

This 2004 hit came out during a very particular era of country music. Country-pop was taking over, and standing out in a sea of similar country music artists was no easy feat. If putting a modern spin on a traditional country tune was your thing, you’d have to be really good at it to get any attention chart-wise. Still, Chesnutt managed to do it with “I’m A Saint”, a delightful honky tonk romp that proved he’s still got it.

    2. “This Heartache Never Sleeps”

One of the more underrated tracks from Chesnutt’s hit 1999 album I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing, “This Heartache Never Sleeps” managed to make it to the Top 20 on the country charts. Still, we think it deserves a bit more love, as it’s rarely remembered on Chesnutt playlists and similar deep cut lists.

    3. “Rollin’ With The Flow”

Chesnutt didn’t write “Rollin’ With The Flow”, but he sure made it sound good. Artists Charlie Rich and T.G. Sheppard each made the song a hit in the 1970s era of country music before Chesnutt got his hands on the song in 2006. He put his own spin on the track and the song made it to no. 25 on the country charts.

    4. “Trouble”

Chesnutt is no stranger to covers. This song is one of Mark Chesnutt’s best deep cuts, even if he didn’t actually write the song. Another cover that Chesnutt sprinkled his own unique country flavor on, “Trouble” was originally a Todd Snider classic. It peaked at no. 18 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart in 1995 and played just about everywhere for the better part of that year.
