PIEDMONT TRIAD (WGHP) — Temperatures fall into the 80s this evening with mostly clear skies remaining into the overnight hours.

Sunday morning kicks off beautifully with mostly sunny skies and temps starting in the mid-70s. We’ll heat up quickly though, pushing into the mid-90s with that classic North Carolina humidity making it feel even hotter. Keep an eye out for some brief pop-up showers during the day, about a 20% chance.

Monday brings a hot start to the work week. Morning lows will be in the mid-70s, climbing to the upper 90s by the afternoon. Mostly sunny skies mean the UV index will be very high, so don’t forget your sunscreen if you’re heading outside. Speaking of the outdoors, you’ll likely want to limit your time outdoors taking breaks in the shade or inside as temperatures near the triple digits.

When we wake up Tuesday morning temps start in the mid-70s, quickly rising to the upper 90s by afternoon. With the humidity, it’ll feel like the triple digits. Again, the UV index will be high, so wear sunscreen and stay hydrated! Keep hydrated and keep an eye out for those pop-up showers/storms, about a 20% chance.

Wednesday brings a change with a cold front approaching the Carolinas. We’ll wake up very humid and warm with temperatures in the mid-70s. Afternoon temperatures reach the low to mid-90s with rain and thunderstorm chances of 50%. Rain chances continue into the evening and overnight.

Thursday morning lows in the mid-70s. Highs will be cooler, only reaching the upper 80s, with scattered thunderstorms persisting throughout the day and overnight. The chance for scattered thunderstorms remains at 60%.

To finish the work week, Friday will have lows in the low 70s and a 60% chance of scattered thunderstorms and rain throughout the day. Highs will be cooler, peaking in the low 80s. Rain and thunderstorm chances look possible overnight.

Heading into the weekend, Saturday starts mild in the upper 60s. Expect isolated thunderstorms throughout the day with a 50% chance of rain. Highs will reach the low 80s, so it won’t be as hot, but the chance for rain persists.
