Springfield Jazz & Roots Festival continues with musical performances

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The second day of the 11th Annual Springfield Jazz & Roots Festival brought the city alive with art, community, and jazz’s sweet, soulful sounds.

From 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., the event was held in Stearns Square and Tower Square Park, which drew in a huge crowd full of jazz enthusiasts. Attendees were given an entire day to enjoy the work of local artists, food trucks, workshops, and many musical performances.

An employee of Focus Springfield, who also took some time to enjoy the event, told 22News why this event is important for the city.

“It shows how culturally relevant we are here in Springfield,” expressed Myles Davis Cartoon from Focus Springfield, “As someone who comes from upstate New York, there’s not much culture over there. Seeing all the beautiful artwork and beautiful music here is just amazing.”

Cartoon also said that he hopes there is a bigger turnout next year, considering that this event is free to attend.
