Retaining enough storage space on your iPhone requires a certain amount of maintenance and caution. There are certain apps that, when used frequently, can take up a lot of storage — you may not even realize it’s happening until a pop-up appears on your phone alerting you to low storage. Instead of waiting for that pop-up and then scrambling to free up space, consider deleting some of the most storage-eating apps on your phone now. Here are five that are notorious storage stealers.

    Streaming Apps

Any app that streams media — whether a music app, movies app, or podcasts app — take up a significant amount of storage. If you’re one of many people who has the Netflix, Hulu, Spotify, and Apple Music apps on their phones and uses them frequently, deleting what you can do without can help.

    Games

Games are resource-intensive and, therefore, consume both storage and battery power. Minimize the number of games you keep on your phone or, if you have to make some hard choices, sacrifice those with high-resolution graphics first.

    Social Media Apps

There’s no getting around this one: all social media apps do a lot — and take up a lot of storage. Picking and choosing among Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, and TikTok so that your phone isn’t storing all of them is a way to maintain more storage.

    Photo and Video Editing Apps

These apps are great for the look and feel of your photos and videos, but terrible for storage space, battery, and cached data. If you want to use a photo and video editing app, make sure you regularly clear it of old files to save some space.

    Navigation Apps

Most of us require at least one navigation app to help us get from one place to another. If Apple Maps isn’t your favorite, you can delete this pre-installed app and opt for a different one, like Google Maps or Waze. But be aware that maps with GPS take up storage space. Only using one is a wise way to keep your storage healthy.
