For fans of American Idol, the season finale was a bittersweet moment as Abi Carter was crowned the latest winner. But at the time, the show celebrated the end of Katy Perry. While part of the show for several years, the judge decided to step away from American Idol and find her way back to the studio. And with her new song “Woman’s World” making its way around the internet, it appears Perry has yet another hit on her hands. And wanting to celebrate the release of her new music video, Perry took a moment to share some behind-the-scenes footage and explain how the entire video was “satire.”

Having spent the last several weeks teasing new music, Perry finally delivered with the song “Woman’s World.” Revolving around women taking over the world, the music video seemed to encompass the world Perry created around herself. Sharing a video on Twitter, Perry joked, “Girlboss sh*t! You can do it, you go girl!”

After embracing the satire surrounding the music video, Perry seemed to cut the act to explain what was going on. “We’re kind of just having fun, being a bit sarcastic with it. It’s very slapstick and very on the nose. And with this set, it’s like, ‘Oooh, we’re not about the male gaze but we really are about the male gaze,’ and we’re really overplaying it and on the nose because I’m about to get smashed which is like a reset for me, and a reset for my idea of feminine divine, and it’s a whole different world we go to after this.”

Katy Perry Explains Inspiration Behind New Album ‘143’

Although having a complete understanding of the idea surrounding “Woman’s World”, Perry added, “We wanted to open this video making it look like a super high gloss pop star video, and that’s what it is.”

Outside of explaining the premise behind the music video, Perry also took a moment to share her inspiration behind the title of her new album. She said, “It’s called 143. It’s my angel number. It’s my symbol, it’s my sign. A couple years ago, we were going through a little bit of a hard time medically in our family, and it was a little bit scary, and I started seeing 143 in many different ways, not just on the phone.”

With a music video already out, fans continue to get excited for the release of 143, which hit shelves on September 20.
