In a quick preview reel posted to Instagram, we meet up with several stars of the new Deadpool and Wolverine movie, and there's a newcomer who is set to take over Hollywood, and she just happens to be "Britain's Ugliest Dog" who uses the name Dogpool online.

"What’s hairy, has sharp claws, and is about to crash into Deadpool’s life and change it forever? No, it’s not Wolverine. Get ready to meet Dogpool, Wade Wilson’s new four-legged friend, set to be the breakout of this summer’s Deadpool & Wolverine ," Empire writes, introducing Peggy as a new key character in the film.

The movie stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, but Peggy, aka Dogpool, might just steal the spotlight.

"Like her human counterpart, she has an… unconventional look. And a taste for chaos. And, most importantly, that iconic red and black outfit."

“Her real name is Peggy, and she won the award for Britain’s Ugliest Dog,” Ryan Reynolds said in an interview with Empire. “The reason why I was a huge proponent for her was because she feels like the animal manifestation of Wade Wilson.”

Reynolds continued, “It was, just like many things during the writing process, a tiny little afterthought, and it grew. It was one of those things where you just keep listening to the movie, and Dogpool became a staple.”

Back in April, Peggy shared a clip of the movie and revealed she would play some role in the film with a sweet message about how much her life had changed.

"A few years ago, I was at the shelter wondering what I was going to do with my life," the caption reads. "Now I’m in the biggest movie of the summer. Goes to show when you put in the work, you can manifest anything. From shelter dog to Shatterstar!"

Peggy Won the Title 'Britain's Ugliest Dog' in 2023

In 2023, Peggy was crowned the ugliest dog in Britain, calling the then four-year-old dog "beautiful both inside and out," according to BBC News .

She's a Pugese, a cross between a Chinese Crested and a Pug , and lives in Leven, in East Yorkshire, UK. Her mom, Holly Middleton, entered her into a contest run by a photography printing firm.

"We tend to forget Peggy isn't your standard-looking dog, and we are very aware some people would refer to Peggy as ugly," Holly told the news station. "It's always in a humorous way, and we don't take offense, and neither does she."

In the competition, Peggy was up against six other dogs and the contest organizers knew Peggy was a star when they met her.

"We could never have imagined that we would discover a star - but that's exactly what happened when Peggy entered the competition. We all absolutely adore Peggy," said Matt Dahan, founder of ParrotPrint, who launched the contest.

"When we launched this contest I never once thought we'd find a dog like her who manages to be both ugly and so, so cute all at the same time."
