Multi-vehicle crash on I-64 West in New Kent caused miles of backups

NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A multi-vehicle crash caused miles of backups on a section of Interstate 64 in New Kent County, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

At around 11:40 a.m. on Sunday, July 14, the west left shoulder, left lane and right shoulder were closed on I-64 near the interchange with New Kent Highway due to a multi-vehicle crash.

According to the department, traffic backups were about 5 miles.

At 1:12 p.m., the department reported that all lanes were open and the scene was clear.
