FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — As the school year gets closer, some college students from out of state may be wondering how to fill out their Arkansas hunting license application.

Here is a quick guide to completing an Arkansas hunting and fishing license application as a non-resident.

    Who is a resident?

To be considered a resident, you must have lived in the state for at least 60 days and declared yourself a full-time resident, according to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission . This means having a true, fixed home within Arkansas and being physically present there.

What if I am a student?

Certain students are eligible to purchase annual resident hunting licenses even if they don’t meet the 60-day residency requirement. These include:

    • Resident Foreign Exchange Students: Arkansas residents who are attending school outside of Arkansas.
    • Nonresident Foreign Exchange Students: Nonresidents who are attending school in Arkansas.
    • Arkansas Residents Studying Out-of-State: Full-time students from Arkansas enrolled in colleges or universities outside the state.
    • Nonresidents Studying in Arkansas: Full-time students from outside Arkansas who are enrolled in colleges or universities within the state.

If you fall into any of these categories, you need to carry proof of your full-time enrollment while hunting or fishing in Arkansas. This proof can include:

    • A student ID
    • Enrollment verification documents
    • A recent official transcript

    Active military

Active-duty military personnel stationed in Arkansas qualify for annual or trip resident hunting and fishing privileges with lower fees and specific regulations, according to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission .

Former Arkansas residents who joined the military retain eligibility for resident hunting and fishing licenses, allowing them to apply as if they were still living in Arkansas, regardless of where they are stationed.

    What do I need?

According to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s website, anyone applying for a hunting or fishing license must provide all of the following information:

    • First and last name
    • Address
    • Date of birth
    • Social Security Number
    • Basic demographic information (gender, height, eye color, race)
    • Driver’s license number (optional)
    • Additional documents as needed (ex. student ID, military ID)
