Born on August 16, 1996, in Green Cove Springs, Florida, Caeleb Dressel is a world-renowned swimmer and a sprint specialist in the 50 meters and 100 meters categories. He has won seven Olympic gold medals, five of which were secured at the 2020 Tokyo Games. Dressel's journey into swimming began at the age of four, and by nine, he was matching the times of local high-school swimmers.

Dressel's talent was evident early on. At the USA Swimming Winter Junior Nationals in 2013, he became the first swimmer aged 18 or younger to complete the 50-meter freestyle in under 19 seconds. He graduated from Clay High School in 2014, having broken seven national high-school records. Dressel then attended the University of Florida, where he was a 10-time NCAA champion and was named the SEC’s Male Swimmer of the Year in 2016, 2017, and 2018.

Dressel made his Olympic debut at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro, winning two gold medals. He continued to dominate at the world championships in 2017 and 2019, winning seven and six gold medals respectively. At the 2020 Tokyo Games, Dressel set two records within eight hours and became the fifth swimmer to win five gold medals at a single Olympics.

Despite his success, Dressel has faced challenges. He withdrew from the 2022 world championships due to a health issue and later cited mental health concerns as the reason for his hiatus. However, he returned to competition in 2024 and secured a spot on the national team for the Paris Games.

Off the pool, Dressel is known for his extensive tattoos, which cover his left arm and right leg. He is married to Meghan Haila , whom he met in high school, and they have a son named August Wilder Dressel .
