    UPDATE: Multiple businesses impacted by Odessa fire

    ODESSA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- UPDATE- Crews with Odessa Fire Rescue remained on the scene of a massive fire Sunday night putting out hotspots and the City shared more information on the fire.

    According to OFR, around 9:00 a.m. on July 14, crews responded to a fire at Payne’s Gym in the Town & Country Shopping Center. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the gym and spent hours on the scene battling the blaze. Crews said the fire spread to the common attic space of the strip mall and advanced to the north.

    Payne’s Gym and Town & Country Barber Shop have been deemed a total loss. Aaron’s Rent to Own Furniture and Town & Country Drug have also been impacted by severe smoke damage.

    Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the fire and the investigation is ongoing.


    Crews with Odessa Fire Rescue were on the scene of a major fire Sunday after flames were spotted at Payne’s Gym, located in the 2700 block of Grandview Avenue.

    Officials have not yet released a cause for the fire, nor have they said if anyone was injured. However, reports on social media indicated the gym was not occupied at the time and that the fire may have started in the sauna.
