Forbes deleted an opinion article on Sunday asking whether former President Donald Trump surviving an assassination attempt will help him “appeal to Black voters.”

Forbes contributor Shaun Harper , who serves as a tenured professor and was described by Forbes as a DEI expert, wrote the article, which bore the headline: “Will Surviving Gunfire Be Donald Trump’s Next Appeal To Black Voters?”

The piece appeared to suggest that Black Americans are more likely to be involved in shootings and therefore would sympathize with the presumptive GOP nominee following his assassination attempt.

On Saturday, Trump was shot while speaking to supporters at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. The shooter was killed by Secret Service after killing a spectator and wounding two attendees.

After the article was posted and deleted, a flood of negative reaction to the post appeared on social media.
