Shannen Doherty was seen walking arm-in-arm with her friends the last time she was spotted out in public just weeks before she passed away.

The Beverly Hills 90210 star wore a baker boy hat and a grey jumper teamed with blue jeans and flip flops on her feet as she was snapped walking alongside her friend Chris Cortazzo on June 16. Shannon carried a brown paper bag as she walked with interlocked arms with Chris after eating dinner at Kristy's Malibu.

Shannon sadly died on Saturday following a lengthy battle with metastatic breast cancer. The 53-year-old actress had been documenting her journey for fans following her diagnosis and spread of the disease to multiple sites in her body.

After living with cancer for many years, the much-loved actress passed away on July 13 surrounded by her loved-ones. The sad news was confirmed today (July 14) by Shannen's publicist.

The statement reads: "It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease. The devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend was surrounded by her loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie. The family asks for their privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace."

Meanwhile, Beverly Hills 901210 star Jason Priestly - who played Shannen's character Brenda Walsh's on-screen brother Brandon Walsh - took to Instagram to post a picture of the pair during their days on the hit show as he led tributes to her. Sharing his heartbreak over the news of her death, he wrote: "Shocked and saddened to hear about the passing of my friend Shannen. She was a force of nature and I will miss her. Sending love and light to her family in this dark time."

Gabrielle Carteris - who played Andrea Zuckerman in the show -also expressed her grief as she shared her hopes that late 90210 star Luke Perry would be with Shannen now. She said: "So young – so sad. May you RIP Shannon. I know Luke is there with open arms to love you."

Carol Potter, who played Brenda and Brandon's mum Cindy also shared her devastation at the news on her social media. She wrote: "Shocked and saddened by news of Shannon Doherty’s death. What a journey she has been on! Gone too soon. Throughout, she stayed true to herself and gave us an example of courage and perseverance in facing her own death. May she rest in peace."

Elsewhere, Shannen's former Charmed co-star Alyssa Milano has also expressed her sympathy for Shannen's loved ones after hearing she had passed away. Alyssa admitted that the two actresses had their differences in the past in a statement to US Weekly.

She said: "It’s no secret that Shannen and I had a complicated relationship, but at its core was someone I deeply respected and was in awe of. She was a talented actress, beloved by many, and the world is less without her. My condolences to all who loved her."

Shannen was first diagnosed with cancer in 2015, with it later being revealed that she had gone into remission before it returned. In 2020, she confirmed that she had stage four metastatic breast cancer. In June 2023, Shannen gave a devastating health update to her fans when she shared that the cancer had spread to her brain.

Speaking to PEOPLE last year ahead of Thanksgiving, Shannen said: "I don’t want to die." She went on: "I’m not done with living. I’m not done with loving. I’m not done with creating. I’m not done with hopefully changing things for the better. I’m just not I’m not done.”
