In a Reel posted to Instagram, we see a groom waiting at the alter who turns around to see his bride, only to be surprised by their adorable dog, Penny.

"A surprise first look," the text on the video reads as the groom stands at the alter waiting for his bride. We then see an adorable pup in a wedding dress run down the stairs and as she reaches the groom, he turns around fully expecting to have his first look at his bride.

But, it's Pennie instead, and he was thrilled. The groom looks down, smiles at his sweet dog in her white wedding dress and bends down to pick her up.

Pennie is also excited to see the groom, so she jumps up to give him a flurry of kisses.

It turned out this first look was a surprise planned by the bride, Madeline Meineke, for her husband, Quinn Meineke.

"It couldn't have been a wedding without Pennie included," the bride told Good Morning America .

"I thought, 'What better way to include Pennie than for Quinn to turn around during our first look, thinking that it's me ... but it's Miss Pennie?' Madeline shared.

The surprise was well received by Quinn, who had no idea this had been planned secretly.

"I had no idea whatsoever. I was fully expecting to turn around and see Madeline, so that's why you can see in the video my eyes kind of go up, and then I looked down and [go], 'Is this actually Pennie? Is she here?'" Quinn told the publication.

"I thought it was really special and a great surprise," he admitted. "It also calmed my nerves quite a bit because I was fully expecting to see her and probably just break down, so it was a great nerve easer, I would say, to turn around and see Pennie."

People said many sweet things about this secret reveal in the comments.

"Man's best friend, what great sense that guy's wife to be, has," one person shared.

"Awe, she looks so pretty, so cute how she waited. Then, when he picked her up, you could see how excited she was to see him," another person noticed. "She gave so many kisses."

"She’s like “Daddy, don’t I look pretty?!'" another wrote.

"Omg! I love people who love their dogs," a viewer shared. "This couple deserves a wonderful life together."

Someone else wrote, "She feels like a proud princess with the dress and all."

More Couples Planning Their Wedding Are Finding Creative Ways to Include Their Dogs

Over the past few years, couples planning their weddings have been finding fun, meaningful, and creative ways to involve their beloved dogs in the ceremony , just like Madeline did for Quinn.

Recently, we've seen dogs stand in as bridesmaids and groomsmen. They've acted as ringbearers and flower girls, and their likeness has been used on the wedding invites for favors.

Of course, they've also been included in the professional photographs, and there have been some very adorable and memorable photos! It makes sense for many couples to include their dogs in their wedding; they're part of the family, after all. But it's also OK to have them sit this out, too. Whatever the marrying couple wants, they should get.
