Liverpool fans will have been watching all summer long with fingers crossed that no Reds players will pick up injuries while at the European Championship or Copa America. The same can be said of all of their rivals.

During the Euro 2024 final in Berlin, Manchester City midfielder Rodri went off at half-time with an injury. He appeared to have picked up a problem late in the first half when he slid into make a block.

Aymeric Laporte was the player who went down at the time but it was the 26-year-old holding midfielder who didn't return after the interval. He was replaced by Martin Zubimendi , potentially leaving Pep Guardiola sweating.

Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice , meanwhile, was on the end of a nasty-looking challenge from Spain attacking midfielder Dani Olmo , who was booked for his troubles. The England ace had a clear mark on his chest after the Spanish number 10 threw in a tackle.

Rice, who moved to Arsenal from West Ham United last summer, was able to carry on playing and didn't let the injury get in the way of his performance for England. But Olmo was perhaps slightly fortunate not to be in further hot water.

While Rice's body was low down when the contact was made, the Leipzig star's studs were showing as he went into the challenge, chasing the ball. The VAR on the night, though, decided not to intervene when the referee, Francois Letexier, opted for a yellow card.

Liverpool.com says: Rodri must have taken quite the knock to have come off at half-time. He is such a big player that Spain's chances could have been over at 1-0 had the Manchester City man stayed on the field.
