The Fleet Science Center has joined Museums for All to encourage people of all backgrounds to visit museums regularly and make it a lifelong habit.

The program, by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), and administered by the Association of Children’s Museums (ACM), allows those receiving government benefits to obtain deep discounts for admission to museums.

This is how it works: by showing a food assistance (SNAP) Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card at the Fleet ticket counter, families can pay just $3 per person, up to four admissions, to view the Fleet’s galleries.

Museums for All admission is only available at the box office, not online. Similar free and reduced admission is open to eligible members of the public at more than 25 museums throughout San Diego County and 850 across the country.

Fleet’s program began July 1. Regular admission at the Balboa Park attraction ranges from $20-25.

Museums for All helps expand access to museums and also raise public awareness about how museums in the U.S. reach their communities. The participating institutions include art museums, children’s museums, science centers, botanical gardens, zoos, history museums and more.
