Plenty of racing action took place throughout the Mid-Atlantic this past week. Here’s a look at the “three stars” of each track:. FIRST STAR: POWER SQUEEZE. Monday’s feature at Delaware Park, rescheduled from Saturday due to hot weather, was the grade 3 Delaware Oaks at 1 1/16 miles. Power Squeeze, already a three-time stakes winner on the year, added a fourth to her resume with an exciting nose victory. She drafted well off the pace in the early stages, then made a move in the two-path in the stretch in tandem with favored Sidamara. The two reeled in longtime leader Ringy Dingy and raced to the wire together, with Power Squeeze ultimately getting the upper hand. She’s now a five-time winner in her nine-race career with earnings of $567,450. Javier Castellano was aboard for owner Lea Farms LLC and trainer Jorge Delgado.

Aurora’s pallet shelters for people experiencing homelessness, which only allow a maximum 30-day stay, have been cycling the same individuals in and out, city staff told council members Thursday. Many return to street encampments when their time in the pallet shelter runs out, Jessica Prosser, homeless services director for the city, said. Then, the city sweeps the encampment again, and they get to come back to the shelter for another 30 days, Prosser explained. This process can repeat multiple times.

Sandy Paws Resuce Inc., a foster-based animal rescue in Massachusetts, recently introduced Miracle, a pit bull terrier who is approximately one year old, and is now looking for her forever home. According to the nonprofit rescue organization, “Miracle was dumped at a lake in Texas and rescued by a good samaritan who has been fostering her since.” This compassionate individual provided Miracle with a temporary home and the love she desperately needed. However, her foster parent recognizes that Miracle deserves even more. “While her foster hates to let her go, she knows there is a better life for Miracle in MA,” Sandy Paws Rescue Inc. noted.
