A PERFUME fan has shared a hack that makes their fragrances last all day.

They were pleased to report that they received compliments on their scent eight hours in.

Redditor GearsofTed14 shared the perfume hack in a post.

“I tried the ‘unscented lotion hack’ and got a compliment 8 hours in,” they said.

“I used this unscented ‘non-greasy’ Vaseline and just smeared one teardrop amount behind each earlobe, one teardrop on the nape of my neck, one on my throat, then sprayed those spots (one spray each, 4 in total).”

After applying the Vaseline, they noticed a huge difference in their perfume performance.

“My Chanel Allure Homme Sport got a big boost,” they said

“The compliment came eight hours in from a coworker, when before the fragrance was dead roughly four to five hours in.

“Since I’ve started doing this, I can definitely pick up the fragrance more when I touch those areas, and CAHS’s bass notes seem to blend well with the lotion smell (even though it’s technically unscented).”

Fragrance enthusiasts agreed that the trick worked wonders.

“It definitely works, and you really should be moisturizing anyway,” said one commenter.

“I started seriously taking care of my skin last year at 28, and I’ve definitely noticed a difference, especially my face.”

“Some lotion goes a long way for longevity,” said another.

“I can attest to this working, for the record,” said one commenter.

They explained that the hack helped extend the sillage of their perfumes or how long the scent wore on their skin .

“I usually do it with perfume oils, but it does work great with regular perfumes, though I will say that the sillage will be lowered as a result,” they said.

“[It has] better lasting power, less overall sillage (which I kind of prefer, not going to lie.

“I’ve always used Vanicream moisturizing cream, which is like 30-50% petrolatum (Vaseline) on my neck and chest just for skincare purposes alone,” said another.

The trick, they said, greatly extended the life of “weak” perfumes.

“[It] has always had decent longevity out of some pretty weak fragrances, even if the projection was minimal.”

The hack worked so well that they worried about going without it.

“I’m honestly kind of afraid to be disappointed by the actual lengths of my favorite fragrances,” they said.
