REEDSVILLE, W.Va. (WBOY) — Hundreds of visitors attended the fifth annual Preston County Farm Crawl this weekend to learn more about the 11 farms in the county.

Visitors got to take free tours of the farms and also get the opportunity to buy products directly from the source. Devin Diehl, who travelled to the farm with her daughter, was grateful for the opportunity to show her daughter how a farm functions and what they provide.

“I think it’s really important that we support our local agriculture and the farmers and obviously this is like a family affair,” Diehl said. “So I also want her to be able to see like where our food comes from.”

There were maple farms, breweries, coffee farms and much more. 12 News made a stop at the Pike Mountain Farm, a pasture raised meat farm which said it has participated in all five years the crawl has existed.

The event was an opportunity for people “to get an inside look at the operations of locally owned and operated agricultural business that may not normally have regular business hours,” according to the event’s website.

Pike Mountain Farm owner Tyler Rice was happy to see so many people in attendance.

“Our plan from early on with the farm was to have it open, to have people out,” Rice said. “I mean one because we want to sell to people that come and visit us but we also wanted to share you know, what we’ve been blessed to take care of with everyone else and to have people out to see what we do.”

Pike Mountain Farm’s products can be found at the Morgantown Farmers Market as well as on their website .
