    One person killed, six injured in Cumberland County buggy crash

    CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — One person was killed and six others were injured after Virginia State Police (VSP) responded to a two-vehicle crash in Cumberland County on Sunday night.

    According to the department, at 6:57 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, police responded to a crash involving a pickup truck that had collided with a horse-drawn buggy at the 2700 block of Cumberland Road.

    The buggy was holding seven people at the time of the crash. One individual died at the scene, and the rest of the passengers have been transported to the University of Virginia Medical Center for treatment of injuries that range from serious to life threatening.

    The driver of the pickup was not injured in the crash. The incident remains under investigation at this time.
