Up to three lanes of the inner loop of Interstate 695 will be closed overnight in Baltimore County this week.

Roadwork starting at Exit 15 for Edmondson Avenue or U.S. Route 40 near Windsor Mill and stretching past Exit 21 in Pikesville will close up to three lanes of traffic through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., according to the Maryland Department of Transportation . A single lane will close at 8 p.m., a second will close at 10 p.m. and the third will close at 11 p.m.

The department said the work is to reduce congestion in part by converting parts of median shoulder lanes into travel lanes in rush hour.

I-695 lanes will also be closed during the day for roadwork this week Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The right shoulder of the outer loop between the I-95 interchange and Exit 15 for Edmondson Avenue will be intermittently closed.

The right lane and shoulder of both the outer and the inner loop will be intermittently closed from Exit 15 to Exit 25 in Timonium.
