The Denver City Council will vote Monday on whether to award Haertling.com LLC a contract for $80,000 to create “Piece of the Rock” mementos for performers who grace the Red Rocks stage. This will bring the total to date spent on the trophies to $575,000.

“Since the award of the contract February 2021, the number of artists who have performed at Red Rocks Amphitheater has increased,” according to a memo from city staff to the City Council.

According to the contract, the trophies, which cost $83.60 each, must:

Resemble the eloquence and natural beauty of Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater.

Utilize recycled, repurposed and natural materials (e.g. wood, stone, glass, granite, slate, etc.).

    Must showcase Flagstone rock.

    Must incorporate Red Rocks logo.

Must be able to produce unexpected and last-minute orders with 24 to 48 hours’ notice.

May be asked to reproduce Red Rocks awards from previous seasons.

The awards can be up to six inches wide and 8.5 inches high. They can weigh up to 3 pounds.

The item appears on the council’s consent agenda. Consent agenda items are considered routine and generally pass in a block vote.
