Angels Draft Pick Gets Clowned For Making Bold Claim

Los Angeles Angels draftee Christian Moore didn't exactly get a warm welcome from MLB fans on social media.

On Sunday, the Angels selected Moore with the 8th overall pick in 2024 MLB draft. The Tennessee second baseman exuded confidence during his interview after getting drafted.

Moore's parting words had him guaranteeing a World Series ring some time in his career.

“I’m a winner and I’m a competitor. I don’t know what’s going to happen in the next couple of years. But I promise you, I’ll get a ring for sure. It’s in my blood,” said Moore.

A handful of fans joked that Moore was already planning to leave the Angels because it's supposedly impossible to win with the Anaheim-based franchise.

“'I’ll get a ring.' I respect the honesty about leaving the Angels as soon as he becomes a free agent. Refreshing"

"Damn he’s already planning on leaving"

"Does he know where he was drafted?"

Others pointed to the team not even winning with both Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani. Even if Moore turned into an MVP-caliber player, there's still no guarantee of postseason success in MLB.

"They couldn’t win with Shohei and Trout . Ain’t happening…"

"I'm sure Trout and Ohtani can tell him about all the rings they won in that organization"

But Moore didn't let the negativity get him down. He posted a positive message on X not long after the Angels drafted him.

"Halo fans, I can’t wait to get to work! Im absolutely blessed to be a part of this Organization. I couldn’t be more fired up to start this journey!" Moore wrote.

Whether or not Moore can win a World Series remains to be seen. But regardless, the Tennessee product is still a tremendous infield prospect for the Angels.

Moore led the Volunteers to their first College World Series title in school history last season. He had a .375 batting average with 34 home runs and 74 RBIs across 72 games played.
