The European Championship and the Copa America are over. For Liverpool, that means the return of the proper soccer is edging ever closer!

Arne Slot and some of his new players have already returned for pre-season training, with Mohamed Salah and Wataru Endo among the senior stars not to be in international action this summer. But plenty more will still be on holiday for a while after representing their nations.

The first pre-season game — and therefore the first match that Slot will take charge of — is against Real Betis. That will take place on Friday, July 26 (the early hours of Saturday in the UK).

After that, Liverpool will take on Arsenal on Wednesday, July 31 (early hours of Thursday, August 1 in the UK) and Manchester United on Friday, August 3 (early hours of Saturday, August 4 in the UK). There is only one Anfield game: against Sevilla on Sunday, August 11.

The Premier League schedule begins six days after Liverpool plays its final friendly, with Slot's first official game coming on Saturday, August 17. That is away at newly-promoted Ipswich Town.

Slot's first competitive game at Anfield is against Brentford a week later before there is a trip to Old Trafford to play Manchester United at the start of September. Nottingham Forest, Wolves and Bournemouth conclude the second month of the season.

Liverpool.com says: Major international tournaments might be some people's cup of tea but nothing matches watching the Reds! Pre-season will kick off soon in the US, though many Liverpool players, including Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alexis Mac Allister , will need to have some time off before they return for training under their new head coach.
