Momo Sissoko tells Arne Slot 'important' Liverpool ace who simply cannot be allowed to leave

Liverpool has been told that there is one player it cannot afford to sell this summer as Arne Slot takes over from Jurgen Klopp at Anfield . And new sporting director Richard Hughes has already offered a hint about the star in question.

"I was really sad when I heard the news that Klopp was leaving," ex- Liverpool midfielder Sissoko told rg.org earlier this month. "But that is in the past now, so we need to support the new manager because we all want to maintain the standards we’ve had under Klopp.

"They have to keep Mohamed Salah , and I know this is business, but he’s so important, you know. A lot of African players have had success at Liverpool in the past, including Sadio Mane , myself, and Salah, and that is why they have a global fanbase."

"To be honest, it's an amazing feeling to be able to play for Liverpool . It's special," Sissoko added. "You know it from the moment you sign, but you feel it even more when you finish playing."

Speaking during the press conference that introduced Slot and Hughes at Liverpool, the latter hinted that Salah would be staying no matter how contract negotiations might go before the September deadline. The Egyptian has one year left on his current deal, which was signed in 2023.

"On contractual situations, I don’t think it would be fair for me to talk about these," Hughes said . "These are private matters between club and players. The only concern I and Arne have about situations is total commitment from the players to the cause for next season and we’re absolutely convinced that will be the case."

Liverpool.com says: There is no doubt that Salah needs to stay at Liverpool, not just for the upcoming season but beyond that too. Losing a player of that quality shouldn't be something that is thought about until it is absolutely necessary. The number of goals that he scores is worth paying the money. While his game is changing, there is no real sign of a proper decline just yet.
