    National Weather Service issues Heat Advisory for Augusta County

    A Heat Advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

    The heat index could reach 102 during the day in Augusta County, with a high temperature reaching 97.

    Some showers or thunderstorms are possible during the afternoon and evening hours. Significant rainfall is not expected.

    NWS warns that heat illnesses can occur with the mix of hot temperatures and high humidity.

    The heat and humidity will persist into the overnight hours. NWS stresses the need to stay hydrated and find ways to stay cool.
