Alexis Mac Allister was seen looking for his family as chaos erupted ahead of the Copa America final last night.

The Liverpool midfielder added another winner’s medal to his collection as Argentina beat Colombia 1-0 thanks to a Lautaro Martinez goal in extra-time. It meant Mac Allister got the better of his Reds teammate Luis Diaz .

Ahead of the game though, Mac Allister was far more concerned with his family’s well-being amid worrying scenes at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

In the hours leading up to the game, ticketless fans climbed fences and broke through gates in order to try and get into the stadium . Organizers temporarily closed the gates in response, although that left some of the players’ families in the thick of the chaos.

Footage of Mac Allister searching for his family has emerged online after the midfielder had to leave the Argentina dressing room in order to get them into the stadium. Speaking to TyC Sports, Mac Allister’s mother Silvina described the scenes as ‘inhumane’.

The final was delayed by over an hour, leaving Argentina and Colombia players visibly frustrated as they were repeatedly told to leave and return to the pitch numerous times.

Miami-Dade Police Department released a statement amid the chaos, denouncing the violence and all fans that breached the stadium's gates without tickets. "We have had several incidents prior to the gates opening at Hard Rock Stadium for the Copa America final game," the police department's statement said.

"These incidents have been a result of the unruly behaviour of fans trying to access the stadium. We are asking everyone to be patient and abide by the rules set by our officers and Hard Rock Stadium personnel.

"We are actively working with Hard Rock Stadium to ensure a safe environment for all those attending. Unruly behaviour will get you ejected and/or arrested. We have a ZERO TOLERANCE behaviour against unruly conduct from everyone attending."
