She shared her advice on Reddit’s AskWomenOver30 forum in response to a user asking for tips on how to have a noticeable smell.
AMAZING AROMA
The “self-confessed perfume fiend” revealed that she has collected more fragrances than shoes or vintage clothes.
She said the “staying power” of any scent is influenced largely by body chemistry.
“Different skins react so differently to different scents,” she said, writing under the handle M_Ad.
“Perfumes can even have different staying power, throw, or emphasize different notes, or distort them completely, depending on where you are in your cycle!! Bodies are weird, lol.
“HAVING SAID THIS, Eau de parfums have more staying power and throw than Eau de toilettes.
“Perfume oils are my personal favorite as they have the most staying power, but you can control the throw (distance it radiates off you) much easier with how much you use it and where.”
The beauty fan revealed that she puts her perfume oils in bottles with roller balls for application on her throat and wrists.
She said this makes the scent subtle enough to wear in the office without overwhelming her coworkers.
She recommended using shower and bath products with the same notes to keep the fragrance on the skin for longer.
“ALSO as we are talking scents, if you love perfume like me but have crybaby-sensitive skin that gets allergic and breaks out in weals and hives at random s**t also like me, SCENT LOCKETS!!!” she said.
“These are what they sound like.
“A locket with a filigree pattern (which makes it permeable), and you put a tiny piece of absorbent cloth or even a bit of a cotton ball inside that you’ve dabbed with oil or spritzed with an EDP.
“As you wear the locket your body heat warms the metal and keeps the scent activated.”
LOVELY LOCKETS
According to Hatton Jewellers, perfume lockets date back to the 16th Century.
People in Europe would soak a piece of material in a fragrance and keep it inside their locket to disguise unpleasant odors.
Hundreds of Amazon shoppers have bought a necklace that diffuses essential oils in the past month.
The stainless steel necklace comes with 20 replaceable pads that can be soaked with a desired scent.
One customer wrote a review praising its “beautiful” design and the slow release of the essential oil they chose to wear.
