    These Brown County businesses have opened or closed since March | Streetwise

    Editor's Note, July 15, 2024: A previous version of this story incorrectly listed the open status of Bay Area Burger Co. The restaurant closed temporarily in May but reopened in mid-June.

    Business applications are on the rise nationwide and the Midwest is leading the charge over the past month with a 3.5% increase. Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin and Indiana are ahead with the most applications, totaling 36,426.

    Streetwise has put together a list of openings and closings since March. New businesses are opening or expanding at a faster pace than businesses are closing and there has been greater variety in the types of businesses opening.

    As part of our coverage, we will continue to write a quarterly roundup to keep readers up to date with the ins and outs of local businesses.

    More than a dozen new businesses opened since March

    The Green Bay area continues to add new names to the business scene with diverse new restaurants, tattoo shops and hair salons.

    Studio 1887 opened at 126 Pine St., Suite 301, in downtown Green Bay in early March.

    Life Love Incorporated opened at 200 N. Broadway, Suite A, in Green Bay in May .

    Blo Blow Dry Bar , opened its newest bar on March 15 at 2621 S. Oneida St., in Ashwaubenon.

    Tropical Smoothie Café , opened at 2298 Costco Way, Suite 101, in Bellevue at the end of March .

    Sugar Skull Tattoo located at 1541 Bellevue St., Suite 3, in Bellevue opened in late May.

    Los Tejados opened at 2235 Main St., Suite A, in Green Bay, next to Papa Murphy's.

    Orsetta Craft Kitchen & Bar opened in early March at 109 N. Broadway, in De Pere.

    Maple Buzz Café opened in the former Zesty's Frozen Custard space, which closed last year, at 3718 Riverside Drive, in De Pere.

    Istanbul Fish & Seafood Restaurant opened at 940 Hansen Road, the former site of Tajin Mexican Grill , in May.

    Panda Express at 2276 Costco Way, Bellevue, opened in mid-May .

    Bigbby Coffee opened its first Green Bay location at 2360 E. Mason St., in East Town, in mid-June.

    Isaac Sports Bar & Grill , 1671 Hoffman Road in Bellevue, took over the former space of The Back Nine Pizza & Pub in June.

    Koi Poke Ramen opened in June at 2101 S. Oneida St., next to Buffalo Wild Wings in the former spot of Moe's Southwest Grill.

    Hometown Needleworks opened at 2652 N. Packerland Drive in Ashwaubenon earlier this year .

    Anchor Coffee closed in downtown Green Bay, with five other businesses

    Six businesses have closed over the last few months in the Green Bay area. While some were trying out a spot, others retired or closed due to staffing problems.

    Anchor Coffee, 401 N. Washington St., Suite 109, closed March 15 after only nine months of service.

    Bay Area Burger Co. , at 126 S. Broadway, closed temporarily in late May but reopened in mid-June.

    The Back Nine Pizza & Pub , 1671 Hoffman Road, Bellevue closed in May.

    Hardee's at 2690 Eaton Road, in Bellevue permanently closed, but it's unknown the exact date.

    Crystal Coffee Cafe , 2625 Packerland Drive, announced via a Facebook post that it was officially closed and Tazza Coffee Shop , at 109 N. Broadway in De Pere, would be taking its place.

    Mandarin Garden closed at 2394 S Oneida St., Ashwaubenon, in May after the owner retired. But it will reopen under new ownership.

    Pizza Hut , at 1808 University Ave., right at the corner of Henry Street will close and move to a nearby location. The new restaurant is being built at 2128 University Avenue.

    What's coming? Here is a list of businesses that will open soon

    As part of our continued coverage, Streetwise covered stories about a variety of businesses that are currently being constructed, remodeled or in the process of inspections. Here is what we've published so far:

    The Brick Spot is currently under construction at 1330 S. Military Ave., in Green Bay, and was expected to open in mid-June at the former space of Golrusk Pet Care Center. A Facebook post from June 29 said the new opening date is in mid-July.

    Casuals , the first soccer pub in Green Bay will open at 1238 Main St., in the former spot of Sliced on Main in August.

    Unity , a nonprofit health care provider that offers caregiving services, is opening a second Resale Shoppe , this time at 1302 S. Broadway, in De Pere.

    A second Chick-fil-A location at 2153 Monroe Road, in Bellevue broke ground in April. Construction is expected to be completed in late fall.

    Koi Ramen, at 1593 W. Mason St., in Green Bay, is still in the works and no exact date for opening has been announced.
