The Maldives is already stacked with luxury resorts —172 at the time of writing—but Atoll Estates is bringing something different to the South Asian archipelago nation.

The UAE-based company, founded by hospitality veterans Amit Majumder and Dmitry Bourtov, has designed an epic new destination with facilities that have never before graced the region.

Covering 500 hectares of a natural lagoon in the South Malé Atoll, Zamani Islands comprises eight islands, three individual resorts, a collection of lavish private residences, and amenities galore. It will also be home to the first superyacht marina in the Maldives and the first medical spa in the country, Atoll Estates claims. To top it off, the company says that Zamani Islands will be the first resort in the region to run on 100 percent renewable energy.

“It was our intention from the outset to conceive a resort with sustainability truly at its heart that will do good for both people and place,” Majumder and Bourtov said in a statement . “Within this framework, Zamani Islands will also set new standards for a lifestyle destination both within the Maldives and globally.”

Designed in partnership with Dubai-based architectural firm Killa Design, the three resorts each offer different experiences for guests. Vibrant is about “experiential luxury,” Elegant is focused on “uber luxury,” and Dvnes exudes “youthful vibes.” Accommodation ranges from beautifully appointed apartments to splashy overwater villas.

Conveniently located 21 miles from the main international airport, Zamani Islands will also include private estates and mansions. (Atoll Estates says 14 residences are currently available for purchase off-plan.) Penned in partnership with Ukrainian studio YoDezeen, the beachfront abodes each feature four to eight bedrooms, sleek, contemporary decor, and the finest natural materials. You can also expect multiple private pools across different levels, a cinema, a spa, a wellness area, and a gym. In addition, each residence comes with a personal butler service and a berth at the marina. Owners will also have a full run of the resort’s amenities, including a yacht club, three spas, a convention center, and 26 restaurants and bars. The highlight of the culinary offering will be the largest underwater restaurant in the Maldives.

Zamani Islands will have a strong focus on sustainability, too. The resort is designed to run on 100 percent renewable energy and could eventually produce up to 50 percent of its own food. Furthermore, Atoll Estates has carefully selected eco-friendly construction materials and has implemented a coral relocation and propagation program. That means you can feel extra good during your stay.

The first part of Zamani Islands will open in spring 2026.
