WWE Money in the Bank Controversy: Jey Uso not winning briefcase ‘hit a nerve’ with Rikishi

The bout itself was outstanding, but the outcome of the men’s ladder match at Money in the Bank left many in the WWE Universe upset and demanding answers. One such person is an actual Hall of Famer, Rikishi, upset by the decision to put the briefcase on Drew McIntyre who, later in the same show, failed in his attempt to cash it in due to CM Punk.

Jey Uso entered the match as a (and to some, the) frontrunner to win, but it was not to be, and it’s not sitting well with Rikishi — who says it has nothing to do with nepotism for one of his twin sons.

"That kind of hits a nerve with me,” he said, via Fightful . “I’m not asking or saying to give this kid a free pass because of who he is and where he comes from.”

To Rikishi, it’s about just how over Jey Uso is with the fans.

“I’m gonna go back to the numbers.” said the Hall of Famer. “The numbers don’t lie with Yeet. The merchandise that the Yeet Man has done so much for the company. The Yeet Man, he doesn’t have a bad track record.

“The Yeet Man is not a liability. The Yeet Man shows up to work and does what he does."

He’s not wrong in anything he’s saying about Jey, by the way.

The youngest Uso has sent arenas into a frenzy over the past several months with his Yeet movement, and one need look no further than Backlash in Lyon, France as evidence. He is currently one of the most over superstars in not just the WWE, but in all of professional wrestling, but he continues to try to carve a path to his first-ever singles title.

And he’ll have to do it going forward without the power of the briefcase in-hand.
