Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson is hoping midfielder Elliot Lee's injury issue is not serious ahead of the tour of the United States.

The Red Dragons have emerged as one of the must-watch teams, with their fame skyrocketing in the US following the fairytale takeover by Hollywood A-listers Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. This newfound glitz and glamour comes amid back-to-back promotions, proving Wrexhams mettle goes beyond just star-studded ownership.

With their American fanbase buzzing with excitement, Wrexham is geared up for headliner matchups against the likes of Bournemouth and Chelsea on Californian soil. And they're not stopping there, with a friendly poised against the Vancouver Whitecaps in Canada.

In preparation, Wrexham took on non-league Hanley Town, with Parkinson's squad showcasing their depth across two halves in front of a packed house. Despite trouncing their opponents 5-1, it was Lee's thigh problem post-match that was cause for concern.

Yet, Parkinson has played down the injury ahead of the trip to the States. Wrexham will be without their main man, Paul Mullin, who's currently on the mend following a spinal surgery in June.

Parkinson revealed the bumpy road of pre-season preparations, saying: "We had a game organized against a Premier League club behind closed doors at their training ground which they pulled out of because of complications with their pre-season tour. We had to quickly arrange an alternative and we went to Hanley, looked at the pitch and spoke to the owner.

"They moved their fixtures around to accommodate us but the upside for them is that they are going to attract a fantastic crowd which can help them with the budget going forward. It is a good fixture which sets us on our way to America.

"Training is going well at the moment and we are pleased with it. By the time we get to the Hanley game, the lads will have had exposure to 11 v 11 in training. The game is a progression for us. We will go there and it is like an add-on to the pre-season training.

"There's a couple of injuries we are just having to manage so maybe a few players won't figure but that is part and parcel of managing everybody. The lads will play 45 minutes and we will utilise the whole squad and give everyone a good run-out. At this stage it is a fitness exercise more than a team structure but that will come as we move into the America games."
