Shannen Doherty filed to officially divorce from ex Kurt Iswarienko and terminate alimony just one day before her death

BEVERLY Hills, 90210 star Shannen Doherty filed to officially divorce from ex Kurt Iswarienko and terminate her request for spousal support just one day before her death.

In a court filing submitted and signed by Shannen on Friday, the star submitted to the court that she and her ex were proceeding with their divorce as uncontested, and they were jointly filing a declaration for default of dissolution of their marriage .

“This matter is proceeding as an uncontested action,” the filing read.

Shannen, who died on Saturday at 53 after a brave battle with breast cancer , also noted that she was waiving her right to spousal support, which was previously a main focal point in their contentious divorce .

“I knowingly give up forever any right to receive spousal or partner support,” the document signed by Shannen read.

It also further stated that both parties were asking the court to terminate any support for either.

“I ask the court to terminate forever spousal or partner support for Petitioner and Respondent.”

Their divorce had proved difficult for Shannen in the months before her passing .

In a filing in June and reported by People , the actress accused her ex of “waiting for her to die” to avoid paying spousal support.

“It is simply not right that Kurt be permitted to prolong our divorce in hopes that I die before he is required to pay me while he continues to live his life and shirk his responsibilities to his dying wife of more than 11 years,” she said in the scathing documents.

Kurt’s lawyer denied any malicious intent and said Shannen was offered a settlement in the months after their divorce in 2023.

“Kurt is not ‘simply wait[ing] for Shannen to die,’” attorney Katherine Heersema said.

“He wants the best for Shannen and he wants both of them to be able to put this case behind them and move forward.”

She called the legal proceedings “exhausting” on her Let’s Be Clear podcast last month.

“That’s been exhausting, because a divorce is not easy, especially when you really loved someone,” she said.

“I did love my husband, and when you get so hurt by their actions, you just feel betrayed and like a sucker.”

During the proceedings, the actress expressed her frustration that she did not receive a significant portion of the financial information pertaining to her ex’s photography archive.

In her podcast, Shannen claimed her ex “skirted around the issues of his original works created during marriage.”

The actress had requested $15,434 per month in spousal support from Kurt and said she would soon be losing her Screen Actors Guild health insurance.

After her initial filing for divorce in 2023 and as she continued her cancer battle, her publicist released a statement.

“Divorce is the last thing Shannen wanted. Unfortunately, she felt she was left with no other option,” the rep told TODAY .

The publicist then claimed that Kurt’s agent was “intimately involved” with the divorce.

• In 2015, Shannen revealed she was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent chemotherapy, radiation, a mastectomy, and reconstructive surgery.

• Two years later, the actress said she was in remission.

• In 2020, Shannen revealed her cancer had returned as stage 4.

• In early 2023, Shannen underwent surgery to have a tumor removed from her head after the cancer had spread to her brain.

• In November 2023, the actress revealed the cancer had spread to her bones.

Shannen battled breast cancer for nine years before she died on Saturday.

HER BRAVE BATTLE

Shannen launched her podcast, Let’s Be Clear , in December of 2023 and delved into her breast cancer diagnosis, her mortality and the raw and painful details of getting her affairs sorted.

Shannen had revealed her cancer had spread to her bones and brain over the past year.

“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty,” the star’s publicist told People on Sunday.

“On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease.”

“The devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend was surrounded by her loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie.

“The family asks for their privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace,” the statement concluded.

SHANNEN’S DIAGNOSIS

Shannen was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, and went into remission in 2017 after undergoing chemotherapy.

However, the Charmed star announced in 2019 that the cancer had returned .

She confirmed it was stage four breast cancer one year later.
