Ben Affleck's close pal hasn't heard from him in the last year amid Jennifer Lopez divorce rumors

Jason Mewes sent love in Ben Affleck 's direction after admitting that they haven't spoken lately.

The actor previously admitted he'd be surprised if Ben and Jennifer Lopez were really divorcing as reports have been suggesting. However, he's admitting now that they aren't in much contact. "I've just been home. I'm taking care of my kids ," he told TMZ .

Ben and Jason starred in quite a number of 90s sitcoms together and are known to be longtime friends. Jason, though, isn't worried by the lack of communication Ben's end as he explained that there's often silence from his closest friends as life gets in the way. This doesn't mean that Jason hasn't been trying to get in touch, explaining that he's sent Ben multiple emails, including some birthday well wishes.

He explained: "I would say in the last year, I haven't really got any responses and I don't take offense. I know life happens. Like, for me it's like my friends even I grew up with and I'm close to, we might not talk for 23 months because like they got kids and they're traveling and they're at school. And so yeah I mean I get it, but yeah I mean, I've definitely sent a couple of emails but there's been no responses or anything, but hopefully he's good."

Jason also clarified that he didn't have any specific knowledge on the interworkings of Ben and JLo's relationship, noting he was only speculating before. He told PEOPLE : "I haven't spoken to him in a while and I feel like everyone has their opinion, and I don't know for sure ... I feel like even if I did know, I probably wouldn't want to share that, but I really don't."

While he couldn't confirm anything, he did weigh in on Ben's recent choice to rent out a mansion separate from his wife. The comedian said the choice "doesn't mean they're necessarily separating." He argued that Ben might just need a "break" to focus on his own creative work, especially to get away from the pressures of family life like his two kids.

Jason also sent out a message to Ben, saying: "I miss you and I hope whatever's going on it winds up going in the right direction. From this face to your face. "
