    3.4 magnitude earthquake in DeKalb County

    SOMONAUK, Ill. — A 3.4 magnitude earthquake struck DeKalb County Monday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey said.

    It happened around 3 a.m. just two kilometers northwest of the village of Somonauk.

    The quake was felt widely in the area. Shaking could be felt most in the town of Sandwich, about four miles from the epicenter.

    Monday forecast: High heat and humidity again, chance for severe weather later

    Weaker vibrations could also be felt in Oswego, Bristol, Montgomery, Aurora and Plainfield.

    Officials said they do not expect any significant damage.
