Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend despite the heat we had. We will still see some high temperatures for the next couple of days, with highs in the upper 90s and heat indices around 110F. Scattered showers/storms will be possible in the afternoon hours throughout the week, which may provide some relief. But here’s some good news to follow up on the hot start! As the rain chances increase later this week, we should see a welcome cooldown from the extreme heat we have had the past several weeks. Let’s get into it!

We’re in for another hot and muggy start to the week. A few storms are passing through in the eastern side of the state and will begin to dissipate as the afternoon goes on. A few more showers are possible closer to the coastline this evening with some northerly flow from the Gulf high having influence.

Good day to everyone; I hope that you had a great week. Looking at our forecast today, one thing concerns me: the high temperatures expected this afternoon. A heat advisory is in effect for southern Louisiana and Mississippi this afternoon. High temperatures are expected to reach the mid-90s, with heat index values expected to be as high as 110 degrees Fehernight. Looking at our rainfall chances, I suspect areas along and south of Interstate 20 will have the highest chance of seeing some rainfall this afternoon. Even so, these showers will be spotty in nature, so I would not count on seeing much rain today, even if you reside south of Interstate 20.

Beryl's remnants will be lifting through the Great Lakes Region today. This will lift a warm front through New England during the day. This warm front will likely slow down or even stall out across central Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine due to an approaching cold front from Canada. This front will provide the focus for a swath of heavy rainfall, where multiple inches of rain will be possible. Areas north and south of this front will see lesser rainfall. Areas south may also see some strong to severe storms in the warm sector.
