    Dane County Fair to start Thursday

    MADISON, Wis. -- Dane County Fair at the Alliant Energy Center is set to begin Thursday.

    Gates are open from 8 am-8pm. Youths under the age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian after 7 pm. New this year will be a drive-up gate (Rimrock Road). All attendees will purchase their admission at the ticket booth and park before entering the fair through the security entrance.

    Daily admission is $15 for 12 years and over, $10 for youth 6-11 years old, and five years old and under are free.

    The fair kicks off with Hometown Hero Days where admission is free for armed forces personnel, police officers, firefighters, and first responders.

    Friday is the Youth Kids Day at the fair where kids can enjoy free activities.

    Saturday is Farm Fresh Day. Tractors will roll down Fairgrounds Drive in the Fabulous Farm Babe Tractor Parade and be on display starting at 11 a.m. Following the parade will be a free tractor ride from 1:00 p.m.-3.

    The fair ends on Sunday with Family Fun Day. The event will include an eating contest, live music and traditional Latino dance performances.
