LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Lackawanna County Commissioners indefinitely suspended a community relations manager for an alleged inappropriate online comment.

Community Relations Manager Rick Notari was suspended indefinitely without pay for an inappropriate comment he made on social media following the assassination attempt on Saturday against former President Donald Trump, according to a statement from Lackawanna County Communications Director Patrick McKenna.

Commissioner Bill Gaughan said, “Political violence is unacceptable and must be condemned. The attempt on President Trump’s life is a tragedy for the country, and we join President Biden and millions of other Americans in wishing President Trump a speedy and full recovery.”

“Lackawanna County’s government serves all of its residents regardless of their political affiliations,” Commissioner Matt McGloin said. “An attempt on a former president’s, and current presidential candidate’s life, is a time for the country to come together to condemn political violence, rather than deepen existing divisions through inappropriate commentary on social media.”

Commissioner Chris Chermak said, “I am incredibly grateful and relieved that President Trump narrowly escaped an assassination attempt. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers faced by our leader and the resilience required to navigate such threats. God bless President Trump and the innocent victims of this attack. God bless the United States of America. Together, we stand strong and united.”

According to the Old Forge Borough website , Notari also serves on the borough council.
