Robert MacIntyre planning to soak up celebrations before switching focus to The Open

Bob MacIntyre is on cloud nine after his stunning Scottish Open win and isn't letting the pressure of the upcoming Open Championship at Royal Troon dampen his spirits.

The home hero pulled off a remarkable four-under-par finish to steal the show from Adam Scott, leaving last year's heartache behind when Rory McIlroy turned the tables on him.

The victory was sweet for MacIntyre, who plans to soak up every second of glory before shifting focus to his major dreams . "Next week's a new week, but I'll tell you one thing, I'm going to celebrate this with my family and my friends and everyone here. I'm going to celebrate this one hard. We'll pitch up to the Open when we pitch up to the Open," he said.

While the rest of the qualified players are already eyeing the Claret Jug, MacIntyre is all about living in the moment, even if that means he might be a bit worse for wear at Monday's media event in Troon.

He quipped about his potential state post-celebration, hinting he might not be the best interview subject after partying with his nearest and dearest.

"What time is my press conference tomorrow, 3pm? I don't think I'll be legally able to drive by then," he chuckled.

MacIntyre has had a stellar year, playing a crucial role in Europe's Ryder Cup victory as a rookie in October before securing his PGA Tour card. The 27 year old went on to win his first PGA Tour event at the Canadian Open last month, and quickly followed it up with another major win at his national open.

"I had a chance to achieve a dream that I really wanted to get," he shared with BBC Scotland. "I'm Scottish, I'm a die-hard Scot and everyone knows that. I wear my heart on my sleeve and I'm through-and-through Scottish. It was the only event as a kid I got to watch. My mum and dad used to take me and a few of my mates to Loch Lomond to watch the Scottish Open."

"I never forget those moments. It's just the one I wanted. The majors are now the ones I want, but I wanted the Scottish Open and I got it."
