Turkey’s Boyner Group is hatching a new retail concept, and it has conscripted several top merchandising and buying executives from rival retailer Beymen, WWD has learned.

Polat Uyal, a 29-year veteran of Beymen, most recently its merchandising group president, has been named chief executive officer of the forthcoming brick-and-mortar entity and associated online store.

A familiar face in the front rows of European fashion weeks, and a no-nonsense retail executive, Uyal is also bringing two of his key Beymen deputies to Boyner.

Sebla Refig Devidas, who was Beymen’s general merchandise manager of women’s, becomes chief merchandising officer at the new Boyner company, whose name has yet to be revealed.

In addition, Demir Aslanoglu, a veteran buying director of Beymen, joins the new Boyner project as buying and merchandising director.

A spokeswoman for Boyner Group confirmed their appointments to WWD and said the three started on July 8.

“Their major role will be to launch and lead a new retail concept under the Boyner Group roof,” she said in reply to an email inquiry. “While the opening date of the new store has not been finalized yet, the concept design, brand mix and talent recruitment will be rapidly under progress.”

In addition, Uyal becomes an executive board member in Boyner Group.

Boyner Group is a diversified textile and retail group that operates more than 250 multibrand stores stores, e-commerce sites and mobile apps.

Its banners include Altınyıldız, a maker of woolen fabrics and a brand of classic apparel; Boyner, Boyner Dynamic, Boyner Active and BR Retail for retail stores; HOPi for digital payments, and Brooks Brothers.

The Boyner Group was established in 1952 by the Boyner family, and today employs some 8,000 people. It joined the International Association of Department Stores last year.

Luxury retailer Beymen used to be one of the subsidiary brands of the Boyner Group, but it was acquired by Mayhoola in 2015.
