Lauren Inthavong, an airport employee at San Francisco International Airport, said her Corolla was smashed moments after the United plane took off, according to San Francisco-based ABC affiliate KGO .

    The incident happened in March.

The wheel fell off a flight while it was ascending from the airport.

It fell to the ground and bounced around the employee parking lot before finally stopping in a Hertz storage area.

The dislodged part hit several cars as it descended to the ground.

“I was in shock because the worst thing that I thought could happen was my car getting broken into,” Inthavong told the station.

“I didn’t think a scenario like that would even happen there.”

Inthavong switched to using public transit to get to her job.

She also borrows cars from friends and family when it’s possible, but she worries about the car’s safety.

“I still don’t have a car,” she said.

United Airlines said it was working with the customers to help them find new transit options for work.

“Safety is our highest priority,” the company said in a statement to the station.

“We worked with everyone who reported damage to their vehicle, but we have not been contacted by the owner of this specific vehicle.”

Inthavong was sent a customer contact hyperlink through the news station.

Inthavong said she has already worked with her car insurance company to get repaid for the incident.

    Car insurance tips

Here are some ways to lower monthly car insurance rates:

    • Increase the deductible – this may increase the amount drivers must pay in an accident
    • Ask insurance carriers for discounts
    • Slow down on the road
    • Keep off the cell phone behind the wheel
    • Improve credit scores ( in some states )
    • Bundle insurance policies

The company gave her the Kelley Blue Book value of the Corolla.

But she didn’t initially know where else to turn after she found her smashed car.

“I just didn’t really know how to,” Inthavong told the station.

“I just wanted some compensation for ruining my car.”

A representative for United Airlines confirmed the company has since heard from the customer.

“We’ve connected with the vehicle owner, and we are reviewing their claim,” a representative told The U.S. Sun.
