Like last month’s introduction to The Boys’ Homelander , Mortal Kombat 1 has pulled back the curtain on the final Kombat Pack 1 character, Takeda, in a new trailer.

Netherrealm Studios has finally unleashed the last Kombat Pack 1 character gameplay trailer. This month reveals the newest character addition to the roster of Mortal Kombat 1 is the son of Kenshi and a student of Scorpion, Takeda Takahashi. The trailer can be seen below in all of its bloody glory.

The trailer uncorks a wealth of Takeda gameplay, and first off, fans will note he has some added range due to his whip-like weapons. The trailer showcases Takeda as the newest Mortal Kombat 1 aerial combat specialist, as he shows good synergy with Cyrax, Frost and Sektor, featuring heavy aerial gameplay. Anything that appears to keep your opponent off the ground is Takeda’s style. A grappling hook can elevate Takeda to implement more aerial punishment on his foes. Takeda was first introduced in Mortal Kombat X , and inspiration for basic kombos can be seen pulled from that title. Mortal Kombat X was a high point in the series, netting a solid 83% on Metacritic .

What’s interesting is Mortal Kombat 1 ‘s Kombat Pack concludes with this addition. In the two previous Mortal Kombat titles, Netherrealm Studios sold two Kombat packs worth of DLC to fans, giving each title’s roster a notable boost (and including staple characters from the Mortal Kombat mythos). Mortal Kombat X ‘s Kombat Pack 2 featured Leatherface, Xenomorph, Bo’ Rai Cho, and Triborg the Cyber Ninja. So while Netherrealm went heavy on ‘guest characters’ in the first Kombat Pack with Homelander, Peacemaker , and Omni-Man, a second Kombat Pack to bring more Kombat-original characters to the roster could give it new life.

While Netherrealm Studios has not announced a Kombat Pack 2 as of this post, the internet (specifically Reddit and X) has taken potential leaks and speculation and run with them in preparation for an announcement. According to initial leaks that started appearing nine months ago from an X (formerly Twitter) user called TheThiny , the Kombat Pack 2 roster could feature Noob Saibot, Jade, Cyrax, Cassie Cage, Sareena, Frost, and Kung Jin (with guest additions linked to Ghostface, Terminator T1000, and Conan the Barbarian). Although leaks happen, and the first Kombat Pack was successfully leaked for Mortal Kombat 1 , nothing concrete has been announced yet, so fans should sit tight until official announcements are made.

Fans can get their hooks into Takeda Takahashi on July 23 when he and the new Kameo character, Ferra (which was previously delayed), join Mortal Kombat 1 .
