    Shawnee Co. deputy tickets driver going 116 mph

    TOPEKA ( KSNT ) – On Monday, the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office shared a ticket a driver received after being pulled over going 116 mph.

    On Sunday, Jul 14 a person driving a silver Dodge was clocked at 116 mph on I-70 near Auburn Road. The driver was given a ticket with a $360 fine and $108 in court costs, totaling $468.

    Earlier this year, 27 News took a look at how bad the speeding problem is in Shawnee County . Law enforcement has issued thousands of speeding tickets in Shawnee County over the years, with some for drivers found going at extremely dangerous speeds.

    Last year, the sheriff’s office issued 289 speeding tickets. Of those tickets issued, six were for drivers going above 100 mph.
